SHARK SKWAL I3

First of its Kind

6 March 2026

The Shark SKWAL i3 represents a major leap forward in motorcycle helmet technology, redefining what riders can expect from modern safety gear. For decades, motorcycle visibility has depended almost entirely on the motorcycle itself — headlights, tail lights, and brake lights mounted to the machine.

The SKWAL i3 changes that paradigm completely by bringing intelligent lighting directly to the rider, transforming the helmet from passive protection into an active safety device.

Shark Skwal I3

Designed with both innovation and practicality in mind, the SKWAL i3 seamlessly blends cutting-edge electronics with the trusted protection that riders expect from a premium helmet. Its integrated LED system works independently of the motorcycle, using internal sensors to detect changes in motion and alert surrounding traffic when the rider slows down. The result is a helmet that doesn’t just protect your head in the event of an accident — it actively works to help prevent one in the first place.

What makes it different
At the heart of the system is a motion sensor (triaxial accelerometer) that detects deceleration and activates rear red LEDs as a dedicated brake signal. The light pattern adapts to braking intensity: a moderate stop flashes the rear LEDs at three times per second, while harder, emergency braking increases the flash rate to five times per second — a quick, unmistakable signal to following road users. The LED system also supports selectable operating modes (front lights constant, front lights flashing, or front LEDs off while keeping the brake function active).

Key features
• Active Smart Brake Lights — automatic rear LED flash that responds to deceleration, designed to grab attention during normal and emergency braking.
• Multiple lighting modes — choose steady front lights, flashing front lights, or front-off with brake function still live.
• Battery & charging — rechargeable battery charges via USB-C (3 hours) and offers up to 12 hours of use in flashing mode on a full charge. The helmet displays battery state at startup via a short LED flash sequence (2 = low, 3 = medium, 4 = high).
• Anti-fog visor system — supplied ready for a Pinlock® 70 lens for reliable everyday anti-fog performance.
• Certified construction — high-impact LEXAN™ injected polycarbonate shell with multi-density EPS liners and UNECE 22-06 compliance for road use.

Benefits for riders
Visibility: Adding both forward and rear lighting to the helmet raises your profile to other road users — especially helpful at dusk, in poor weather, or in urban stop-and-go traffic. The brake-specific flashing gives a separate, dynamic cue that can be noticed even if a bike’s tail lamp is obscured.

Simplicity and reliability: The system is self-contained — no cables to the bike or Bluetooth pairing required — so it’s plug-and-play. Automatic standby and wake functions help conserve battery when you’re off the bike.

Everyday practicality: USB-C charging, a three-hour top-up time, and a long single-charge runtime mean the light system fits normal riding patterns without frequent recharging. The included Pinlock® 70 keeps the visor usable in colder or wetter conditions.

Who it’s for
If you ride in mixed light conditions, commute in traffic, or simply want an extra margin of active visibility without aftermarket gadgets, the SKWAL i3 is an elegant factory solution. It’s a worthwhile option for riders who value straightforward safety tech that doesn’t complicate the bike setup.

In short: the SKWAL i3 combines certified protection, practical anti-fog optics, and an intelligent LED braking system to make you more visible — and a little harder to miss on the road.
