TIPS & TRICKS
SPRING BIKE PREP
Bike Check Time!
14 August 2025
Winter’s over, the sun is out, and your bike is begging for attention. Before you roar off like nothing happened, give it a little love — check tyres, fluids, brakes, and battery. A few minutes now means smooth, worry-free rides all spring.
Think of it as a mini spa day for your bike. Lubricate moving parts, inspect your suspension, and make sure all lights work. Fresh oil and a clean air filter keep your engine happy, while properly inflated tyres and checked brakes keep you safe. Happy bike, happy rider!

Spring Into Riding: Your Bike’s Seasonal Wake-Up Call
1. Tyres & Wheels: Grip the Road, Not Your Nerves
Check tread depth, watch for cracks, and scan for uneven wear. Tyres might be flat-spotted from winter naps, so air them up to spec, adjust for weight and terrain if you’re an off-road adventurer. Spin your wheels and check spokes, rims, and bolts for damage or corrosion. Remember: a smooth ride beats a surprise wobble any day.
2. Fluids & Filters: Keep Your Engine Happy
Old oil is like last season’s fashion, time to replace it. Swap your engine oil and filter for fresh goodness, check brake, clutch, and coolant levels, and don’t forget that air filter. Off-road explorers especially: dusty trails are great for Instagram, not so much for your lungs and engine.
3. Brakes & Drive System: Stop on a Dime, Not a Dare
Inspect brake pads and discs – squeaky or worn brakes are not cute. For chain-driven bikes, clean, lubricate, and adjust your chain; belt or shaft drives need a smooth inspection too. A healthy drive system is the difference between adventure and a walk home pushing your pride.
4. Battery & Electrics: Let There Be Light
Charge your battery and make sure it holds voltage, nothing worse than a lifeless start. Test all lights: headlights, indicators, brake lights. If your bike can’t see, it can’t be seen. Safety first, selfies second.
5. Comfort & Control: You’re in the Saddle, Not a Torture Chamber
Adjust handlebars, levers, and mirrors. Check suspension and tweak settings for your terrain. Long rides on too-soft shocks will leave your arms and ego sore. Small tweaks now = big comfort gains later.
6. Gear & Accessories: Don’t Forget the Human
Inspect helmets, gloves, jackets, and boots. Adventure riders: pack tools, spares, and duct tape (just in case). Road and scooter riders: keep essentials handy … breakdowns happen to the best of us.
Extra Tips You Might Have Missed:
– Lubricate pivot points (footpegs, levers) to keep things smooth.
– Wash and wax your bike — it looks great and protects paint from spring pollen.
– Inspect your fuel system for stale petrol or leaks.
Whether you’re chasing twisty roads, trails, or the weekend vibe on a scooter, a little pre-season attention now means carefree rides later.
